Former New Zealand pacer Danny Morrison is a well-known figure among the cricket Pundits. He is known for his uncanny sense of humour while commentating in various competitive cricket tournaments.
In a recent conversation with Sportskeeda, Morrison was asked to name an overrated player from the current generation. He picked West Indies captain Kieron Pollard as his choice.
Morrison’s pick came as a surprise to many as Pollard has been Windies skipper in white-ball format since 2019.
Recently, Pollard was in rough waters after his team got knocked out in the group stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.
Above all, Morrison’s statement came after Pollard was picked as one of the retentions made by IPL’s most successful franchise Mumbai Indians (MI).
Pollard has played 573 T20s and scored 11326 runs at a strike rate of 152.10. He is one of the three players who had made over 10000 runs in this format and sits at the second spot.
As for the most underrated cricketer, Morrison named Ishan Kishan and Surya Kumar Yadav. Kishan was the U-19 captain of Team India in 2016 and also featured in the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup. In his international career, he has played only 5 T20I and 2 ODIs so far. On the other hand, Surya has played 11 T20Is and 3 ODIs, scoring 244 and 144 runs, respectively.
Morrison also revealed that his favourite IPL team is Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The 55-year-old called the franchise ‘unlucky’ for not winning the IPL despite having a star-studded squad.
When Danny was asked to choose a franchise for which he would like to play, then he picked Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and said he would love to feature in the yellow jersey.
The former New Zealand player was further enquired about the bowler from the current generation whom he enjoys watching. Morrison named Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah along with Shaheen Shah Afridi of Pakistan as his choice.
