Australian cricket legend Shane Warne died from a suspected heart attack on Friday after enjoying a lads’ holiday in Thailand with a group of friends.

Cricket fraternity and celebs across the world rushed to pay rich tributes to the Aussie, who was renowned for his headline-grabbing antics both on and off the field.

Model turned English actress Elizabeth Hurley, who got engaged to Warne in October 2011 before their separation two years later, has now joined those paying their respects.

In a short but sweet message on Instagram, Liz wrote: “I feel like the sun has gone behind a cloud forever. RIP my beloved Lionheart @shanewarne23.”

During his The Mirror interview last year, Warne reflected back on his romance with Elizabeth.

“I was more in love with Elizabeth than I’d realised I could be. I miss the love we had. My years with Elizabeth were the happiest of my life,” he had said.

“When we were together we both had a great time. Unfortunately it didn’t work out.

“It wasn’t something that she or I did wrong, it just fizzled out. We’re still great friends, we still stay in touch, we’re good for each other and our kids get along great,” he added in that conversation.

On the work front, Warne picked up 708 Test wickets in his 15-year long international career between 1992 and 2007, and was also an ODI World Cup winner in 1999.
