Legendary Australian cricketer Shane Warne has passed away on Friday, aged 52, of a suspected heart attack. Warne’s management released a statement that said that the former leg-spinner was at a villa in Thailand when the doctors unsuccessfully tried to revive him.

“Shane was found unresponsive in his villa, and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived. The family requests privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course,” the statement read as quoted by Fox Cricket.

As soon as the news of Warne’s sad demise spread across, cricketers from across the globe took to social media to mourn the loss.

Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma took to Twitter and expressed his shock and disappointment. He wrote: “I’m truly lost for words here, this is extremely sad. An absolute legend and champion of our game has left us. RIP Shane Warne….still can’t believe it.”

Former India cricketer VVS Laxman felt it was shocking and beyond words before terming Warne as a legend of the game.

“This is absolutely unbelievable. Shocked beyond words. A legend and one of the greatest players ever to grace the game.. Gone too soon… Condolences to his family and friends,” tweeted Laxman.

Former Zimbabwe cricketer Pommy Mbangwa expressed his shock and wrote: “Oh dear! I can’t believe it!! So sad Condolences.#RIPShaneWarne.”

Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag extended his condolences to Warne’s family, friends, and fans and said he couldn’t believe that Warne is no more.

“Cannot believe it. One of the greatest spinners, the man who made spin cool, superstar Shane Warne is no more. Life is very fragile, but this is very difficult to fathom. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and fans all around the world,” tweeted Sehwag.

Legendary West Indies cricketer Sir Vivian Richards reckoned the incident as shocking and termed Warne’s demise as a huge loss for world cricket.

“Unbelievable. I am shocked to the core. This can’t be true…Rest In Peace, @ShaneWarne. There are no words to describe what I feel right now. A huge loss for cricket,” tweeted Richards.
