In the second Test match against New Zealand, India defeated the Black Caps by a big margin of 372 runs. The leading run-scorer of the contest, Mayank Agrawal’s name was inscribed on the Honours Board at the Wankhede.

Mayank scored 150 and 62 runs in both the innings of the 2nd Test match and played an important role in sealing the series.

BCCI shared a few pictures of Mayank, whose name was engraved on the honours board.

In the match, India won the toss and opted to bat first. In the first innings, Mayank and Shubman Gill gave a promising start to the team and made 80-runs of partnership for the opening wicket. Gill scored 44 off 71 balls before getting dismissed by New Zealand’s Ajaz Patel.
After dismissing Gill, Patel sent back Cheteshwar Pujara and skipper Virat Kohli on duck. The score was 80/3 when Shreyas Iyer came to the crease. Along with Mayank, Iyer formed an 80-run stand before getting dismissed by Patel.

Thereafter, India couldn’t manage to sustain their batting lineup till Axar Patel came on the crease. He scored crucial 52 runs to help India post 325/10 on board in their first innings.

Notably, Patel became the 3rd bowler in the history of cricket to get all 10-wickets in an innings after England’s Jim Laker and India’s Anil Kumble.

In reply, Indian bowlers exploited the New Zealand batting lineup and packed them at 62/10 in 29 overs. In the Indian bowling department, Ravichandran Ashwin got four wickets, while Mohammad Siraj picked three, Axar got two, and Jayant Yadav took one wicket.

After getting a lead of 263 runs, India declared at 276/7 in the second innings. Again, Mayank shined with his willow and scored 62 off 108 runs. On the other hand, Pujara, Gill and Virat scored 47, 47 and 36 runs, respectively.

The tourists had a daunting task to chase 540 runs in their second innings. But again, Indian bowlers magnificently well to bundle out New Zealand at 167/10. Only Daryl Mitchell (60 off 91) and Henry Nicholls (44 off 111) managed to play a few knocks in front of the Indian bowling attack.

Ashwin and Jayant picked up four wickets each.

As the host registered their biggest record margin victory of 372-runs. Ashwin was named ‘Player of the Series,’ while Mayank was awarded the ‘Player of the Match.’
