Team India pacer Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka due to a hamstring injury.

Notably, Chahar had suffered the injury during India’s recently concluded third T20I against West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday. The right-armer looked in fine touch as he dismissed both the opposition openers in the space of 10 balls.

However, on the last delivery of his second over, Chahar pulled out of the run-up and went down to the ground. He looked in severe pain and limped back to the pavilion with the help of team physio.

A BCCI official has revealed that Chahar will complete his rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore before stating that no replacement has been added as fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is already in the outfit.

“He is ruled out of the series and will complete his rehab at NCA,” said a BCCI official as quoted by the Times of India.

“The team has sought no replacement as vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah is already in the side,” the official added.

The opening game of the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka will be hosted by Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on February 24. The remaining two games will be played at HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on February 26 and 27, respectively.

India squad for Sri Lanka T20Is: Rohit Sharma (captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Hooda, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj, Sanju Samson (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Avesh Khan.
