India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been named as the captain of team Ahmedabad, one of the two new franchises to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) from the upcoming edition.
Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan and India batter Shubman Gill are the two other draft picks in the Ahmedabad team.
Hardik and Rashid were picked by the CVC-capital owned franchise for Rs 15 crore, while while Shubman has been signed for Rs 8 crore.

South Africa legend Gary Kirsten, who was the head coach of India’s 2011 World Cup-winning team, has been appointed as mentor of Team Ahmedabad.
After drafting three players for IPL 2022, the Ahmedabad franchise are left with a purse of Rs 52 crore.
Meanwhile, as was reported already, the Lucknow franchise has signed KL Rahul (INR 17 crores), Marcus Stoinis (INR 9.2 crores) and Ravi Bishnoi (INR 4 crores), and will have a purse of INR 59.89 crores to spend at the auction table. Rahul will captain the team.
