Delhi Capitals (DC) opening batter David Warner was at his best against his former franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match 50 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Warner lit up the Brabourne Stadium in Navi Mumbai with his unbeaten 92, helping DC crush the 2016 champions by 21 runs on Thursday.

Representing DC in the fifteenth season of the cash-rich league, Warner formed a dominating partnership with Rovman Powell. The pair stitched an unbeaten 122-run stand for the fourth wicket. Warner remained not out on 92 off 58 balls while Powell smashed an undefeated 35-ball 67 as the Capitals finished with 207/3.

In response, SRH only managed to reach 186/8 in 20 overs as DC won the contest by 21 runs. Warner was later named the ‘Player of the Match’ for his superb knock. While most of the fans and some experts claimed it as a revenge game for the Aussie superstar, Warner was spotted sharing light moments with his old teammates.

After the match, the 35-year-old took to his official Instagram handle and shared a picture with his old friend and current SRH skipper, Kane Williamson. He posted an emotional message alongside the picture, stating, “I have missed you, bro @kane_s_w”.

“It’s a really nice wicket, I’ve had some success here. I knew if I played my strokes, it was going to come off. Challenging here in Mumbai with the humidity, and I was cooked there towards the back end, I am getting older. Having Rovman at the other end was amazing. I was glad he was at the other end. I didn’t need extra motivation (playing against SRH), we’ve seen what’s happened before in the past, it was good to get the win on the board,” said Warner after the match.
