Following the announcement from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) that MS Dhoni has stepped down as CSK captain and handed over the responsibility to Ravindra Jadeja, plenty of reactions poured in on social media. The cricket fraternity reminisced many contributions of the Ranchi-based cricketer as the leader of the ‘Yellow Army’.
Dhoni, who was the most expensive buy at the inaugural IPL auction in 2008, has been the leader of CSK through all the IPL seasons the franchise has participated. Under his leadership, CSK has recorded 121 wins in 204 matches.
Moreover, With Dhoni as the captain, CSK won the IPL trophy on four occasions – 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021. Additionally, the Super Kings finished as the runners-up on five occasions – 2008, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2019.
Former India captain Virat Kohli also reflected his thoughts, terming Dhoni as the legendary captain in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Kohli took to his official Twitter handle and praised Dhoni for his hugely successful tenure as the captain of CSK.
Not to mention, Kohli, who idolizes Dhoni a lot, has shared quite a few memorable moments with the four-time IPL title-winning skipper. In fact, Kohli and Dhoni always had time for a chat before or after IPL games which has been the fan’s favourite moment of the cash-rich league.
“Legendary captaincy tenure in yellow skip. A chapter fans will never forget. Respect always,” Kohli wrote in his Twitter post.

Notably, IPL 2021 was the last time when both Kohli and Dhoni had donned the captains’ hat in the lucrative league. Kohli gave up his Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captaincy at the end of the last season. Ahead of the IPL 2022, Faf du Plessis was appointed as Kohli’s successor.
