Delhi Capitals (DC), on Wednesday, exhibited a dominant show to hand Rajasthan Royals (RR) an eight-wicket defeat at Mumbai’s Dr DY Patil Sports Academy.

A scintillating performance from Mitchell Marsh was the biggest talking point of the high-voltage clash. The Australian all-rounder picked up two wickets for 25 and went on to play a match-winning 42-ball 89 runs knock to help DC stay alive in the playoffs race.

Apart from Marsh’s heroics, there was another moment that captured a lot of attention. During DC’s chase, a shocking incident took place when David Warner remained not out despite the ball hitting the stumps on a fair delivery bowled by RR’s spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.

It all happened in the ninth over of DC’s innings, when Warner attempted an adventurous lofted shot through the long-off. However, he missed the line completely as the ball swung after pitching and clipped the stumps before travelling to backward short-leg.

Notably, the bails were lifted up slightly, and the stumps light were switched on for a moment, but the bails did not fall over, which saved Warner from getting dismissed. No wonder the incident left Chahal in shock.

Here is the video:

Warner made full use of the opportunity as he stayed unbeaten at 52 from 41 deliveries with the help of six boundaries to propel DC to an eight-wicket win with 11 balls to spare. After the contest, the Aussie revealed that everyone in the team is in good spirit before terming the triumph as a ‘great win’ for the whole side.

“Feels good to get across the line. How good was Mitch there! Came out there and started positive. We just told him that if he can get an 80 or 90, he can games for us. Bowlers did a great job too. It was a bit two-paced, that hard length wasn’t easy to hit. Some bounced a bit extra. It’s important (to win big) as net run rate is a big factor with many teams in the race for those spots. Everyone is in good spirits, and this is a great win for us,” Warner told Star Sports.
