Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) outplayed Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets via Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method in the rain-curtailed Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Monday (May 29).

It was an IPL final like never before. And it lived up to all the expectations after rain washed out the final on Sunday and then delayed the ongoing match midway through Monday, finally taking the game to Tuesday morning. But the three-day final ended on a blockbuster note as it went down to the last ball of the competition.

In front of his home ground, when the Yellow Army required ten runs in the final two balls, Ravindra Jadeja smacked Mohit Sharma for a six and a four to hand CSK their fifth title in the remunerative league.

As soon as CSK clinched the trophy, fans, former greats and cricketing experts started showering love on Dhoni and Jadeja. Even Virat Kohli couldn’t stop himself from signing the praises for the Saurashtra-born cricketer and captain Dhoni.  The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter took took to Instagram to hail ‘champion’ Jadeja for his last-over heroics and also had a ‘special mention’ for former India captain Dhoni.

“What a champion @ravindra, Jadeja. Well done CSK and special mention to @mahi7781,” Kohli captioned his post.
