West Indies legend and Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) premium bowler Sunil Narine is one of the most decorated spinners in the history of T20 cricket. Several batters find it tough to score runs against Narine due to the mystery he brings into his spin.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Narine holds the dominance against some of the most high-quality batters. The 33-year-old has so far managed to take 149 wickets in 141 IPL games, with 5/19 being his best bowling figures.

Narine has an exceptional economy rate of 6.67 in the IPL. However, there is one batter who, according to the off-spinner, played him the best amongst batters. Narine has named none other than the legendary Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag as his choice.

The right-armer mentioned that he found it challenging to bowl against Sehwag as the explosive opener used to keep the run-rate high regardless of how bad the situation of a team was.

“I will probably have to say Virender Sehwag. I always found it tough because he was a guy who always kept the game going no matter what situation the team was in, he kept batting the way he did,” the official website of KKR quoted Narine as saying.

The Trinidadian was further asked about his favourite mode of dismissal to which he went with Leg Before Wicket (LBW).

“I like getting LBWs and bowled. Earlier it was way lesser, but I like it when the batters think it’s going the opposite way, but it turns in the opposite direction, and they get bowled through the gate,” explained Narine.

Sehwag IPL stats

Matches played: 93 | Runs scored: 2530 | Highest Score: 122 not out | Strike-rate: 156.46 | 100s: 2 | 50s: 15
