The sixth match of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off 2023 saw Namibia take on Jersey at the Wanderers Cricket Ground in Windhoek on March 30. Namibia emerged victorious in the contest by eight wickets.

After winning the toss, Jersey decided to bat first and managed to score 213 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Jonty Jenner top-scored for Jersey with 76 runs, while Josh Lawrenson contributed with 42 runs. For Namibia, Ben Shikongo and Ruben Trumpelmann both took three wickets each.

In response, Namibia chased down the set target of 214 runs in just 32.1 overs with eight wickets in hand. Michael van Lingen was the star performer for his team as he scored an unbeaten 110 runs off 93 balls, including 11 fours and four sixes. He was well supported by Gerhard Erasmus, who scored 88 runs off 87 balls. Namibia reached the target comfortably with more than 17 overs to spare.

On the other hand, Julius Sumerauer and Charles Perchard picked up a wicket each for Jersey, but they could not prevent Namibia from clinching a comprehensive victory. Lingen was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ for his sensation century in the contest.

With this win, Namibia secured the second spot in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off 2023 points table, while Jersey remained at the bottom. Notably, Canada is currently at the top of the team standings with two wins in two matches.
