Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday took a brutal dig at Team India after their 10-wicket defeat against England in the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

Sharif’s tweet immediately went viral, with him receiving flak on social media for his post. On Saturday, on the eve of the summit clash between Pakistan and England, former India pacer Irfan Pathan came up with a befitting reply to the Pakistani PM.

India were outplayed by England in the semi-final game at the Adelaide Oval. After posting 168/6 on the scoreboard whilst batting first, India could not turn up with the ball as the Three Lions chased the target in just 16 overs.

Following India’s defeat, Shehbaz took to Twitter and wrote: “So, this Sunday, it’s: 152/0 vs 170/0 #T20WorldCup.”

The first figure signifies the runs Pakistan pulled off against India in the 2021 T20 World Cup at Dubai International Stadium, while the second one was for the recent game. These were the only two matches India ever lost in a T20I World Cup by ten wickets.

Responding to the jibe, Pathan accused Sharif of seeking happiness from India’s failures instead the success of his own nation.

“Aap mein or hum mein fark yehi hai. Hum apni khushi se khush or aap dusre ke taklif se. Is liye khud ke mulk ko behtar karne pe dhyan nahi hai (This is the difference between you and us. We are happy with ourselves, you look for happiness when others are in trouble. That is why you are not concentrating on your country’s well-being),” tweeted the cricketer-turned-commentator.

This was not the first time that the Pakistani PM expressed his views on cricket in the ongoing T20 World Cup as he had tweeted about the “Pak Bean” issue, and that post too went viral after Pakistan’s shocking defeat against Zimbabwe.
