After losing the series opener, Sri Lanka came back strongly and defeated Australia in the second and final Test by an innings and 39 runs to level the series 1-1. Jayasuriya bagged another six-wicket haul to completely crush the tourists, leading his side to a remarkable victory. Overall, the left-arm spinner picked up 12 wickets in the match and marked his grand arrival in the longest format.
