Yastika Bhatia‘s courageous half-century and Sneh Rana‘s all-round outing helped India register a massive 110-run victory over Bangladesh in Hamilton to keep their World Cup semi-final hopes alive.
Batting first, India posted 229/7 in their allotted 50 overs, with Yastika scoring the maximum 50 runs off 80 deliveries. Opener Shafali Verma gave her team a solid start, smashing 42 off 42 balls with the help of seven boundaries, including a six.
Wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh (26) and all-rounder pair of Rana (27) and Pooja Vastrakar (30 not out) chipped in with valuable contributions down the order to help India reach a competitive total.
In response, Bangladesh got bundled out for a mere 119, as India won the contest by a huge margin of 110 runs.
Rana once again shined with the ball, taking a four-wicket haul while conceding 30 runs in her quota of 10 overs, including two maidens. Vastrakar (2/26) and Jhulan Goswami (2/19) bagged a couple of scalps each. With 32 off 35 balls, Salma Khatun was the top scorer for Bangladesh.
“Very pleased, I would have liked some more runs to contribute to the team, but nevertheless, very happy with the result. In domestic, I’d prepared for No. 3, and it was always in mind that whichever order I get, I’ll have to contribute for the team. So the preparation was according to that. Sometimes the wicket is not that good, so singles and strike rotation will be in my mind. It’s my first Man of the Match in internationals, it really means a lot,” said Yastika after the match.

It’s always good when your leading wicket-takers are the main all-rounders of your side.

What a fine young batter Yastika Bhatia is. Was amazing v Australia at Eden Park on a pitch that had a bit of bounce. In Hamilton on a slow pitch, she has played well v spin. Good to see Yastika taking responsibility at a big stage

Terrific win for India, much needed in #CWC22 , all round performance by Sneh Rana with 23 runs and 4 wickets. This is the 3rd win for India in the World Cup. Go on girls 🇮🇳.

Right from first game against Pakistan where our batting order crumbled till today , their positive and matured batting helpd us to get to a good total and then with ball they have been providing us big breakthrough.— Alok Ranjan 🇮🇳 (@itsalokranjan) March 22, 2022
Back to back fifties for Yastika Bhatia in #CWC22 – she has been so good in tough situations – 59(83) vs Australia and 50(80) vs Bangladesh – just 22-year-old, very good signs for future.
