Team India star Suryakumar Yadav continued his magnificent form in the T20 format as he smashed an incredible half-century in India’s 13-run victory at WACA against Western Australia in their first warm-up game for the T20 World Cup 2022.
Surya slammed three fours and as many sixes in his 35-ball 52 to drive India to 158/6 before Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar propelled the tourists to restrict Western Australia to 145/8.
Indian fans in Perth applauded the Pune-born superstar after he reached his fifty with an aggressive stroke. The crowd was even heard shouting, ‘Shot Surya’.

Ahead of the contest, Suryakumar had expressed his happiness and revealed how excited he was to attend his first practice session down under.
“I was really looking forward to come here and attend the first practice session. Just to get on to the ground, have a walk, have a run and feel how it’s like here. The first net session was really amazing,” said Suryakumar in a video shared by BCCI on Twitter.
“Obviously, there were few butterflies and a lot of excitement, but at the same time, you also have to see how you put yourself in that atmosphere and how you peak at the right time. Yes, there’s excitement, but it’s also important to follow the processes and routines. I just wanted to see what the pace of the wicket [is] and bounce, so I’m starting a little slow,” he added.
