Ahead of Ashes 2021-22, Cricket Australia (CA) released a video in which Aussie legend Ricky Ponting has explained the battle between Australia’s opener David Warner and England’s pacer Stuart Broad.

Both the players are part of the Test squad and will be going to face each other in the upcoming five-match Ashes Series, starting on December 8 at Gabba in Brisbane.

In the video, Ponting analyzed the dominance of Broad over Warner after the latter’s unusual dismissal against the bowler in the 2019 Ashes. As per Ponting, Broad always aimed towards Warner’s stumps but bowling from round the wicket had left the latter with two minds. With this approach in ashes was able to put a hold on Warner’s natural game.

Notably, out of seven innings, Broad has sent back Warner five times, in which each delivery was bowled from round the wicket.

The 46-year-old Ponting wanted the struggling Australian opener to play his natural game in order to end a run of dismissals by Broad.

Warner had made his Test debut against New Zealand in 2011. He has played 85 Test, scoring 7311 runs with an average of 48.09. The 35-year-old has smashed 24 centuries and 50 fifties with the highest score of 335 runs against Pakistan.

On the other hand, Broad had began his red-ball career against Sri Lanka in 2007. He has played 147 Test matches and clinched 524 wickets with an economy of 2.93. The English Star registered his best bowling figure 8/15 against Australia in 2015.

Notably, England have lost each of their last two Ashes tours in Australia. The Aussies are the current holder of Ashes after the 2019 edition of the series concluded in a draw in England.
