Team India were off to a phenomenal start in the ongoing ODI series against England after winning the opening game with a dominant performance. The visitors completely outplayed the English side and won the contest by 10 wickets after packing the hosts for a mere 110 inside 26 overs.

Frontline pacer Jasprit Bumrah was the star of the night with his career-best figures in an ODI fixture. The right-armer picked up a six-wicket haul while conceding just 19 runs in 7.2 overs, including three maidens.

Apart from Bumrah, star wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant also grabbed fans’ attention courtesy of his outstanding work behind the stumps. The 24-year-old pulled off two brilliant one-handed catches to dismiss Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow.

Pant’s excellent keeping exhibition was first seen during the third over of England’s innings bowled by senior pacer Mohammed Shami. The right-armer came round the wicket and bowled a length delivery that came back sharply. Stokes looked to defend it but ended up getting an inside edge, and Pant flew to his right to take a fantastic one-handed stunner.

A couple of overs later, Pant yet again displayed his sensational glovework off Bumrah’s bowling to get rid of Bairstow. Bumrah went for a short of a good length delivery outside off. Bairstow was teased to flirt with it and got an outside edge which was caught brilliantly by Pant.

After the contest, Bumrah, who was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his tremendous bowling, heaped praises on Pant. Bumrah reckoned that Pant has been working really hard on his keeping along with his batting.

“When the ball is moving around, the keeper and the cordon is very active. Very happy that Rishabh has been working hard on his keeping as well as his batting,” said Bumrah in the post-match presentation.
