The second ODI of the three-match series between New Zealand and India saw numerous rain breaks and was eventually called off as the showers got heavier in Hamilton.

A game of only 12.5 overs took place at Seddon Park after New Zealand won the toss and opted to field first. India were 89/1 when the rain halted play for the second time on Friday.

The ground staff continuously worked so that the venue could be ready for the remaining contest. Indian batter Sanju Samson was helping the groundsmen with the covers and has been applauded by fans for his humble gesture.

Here’s the video:

Reacting to the video shared by Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) official Twitter, one fan commented, “Even if he didn’t get chance in 11, his fan are always stand by him. And he always proves that right. What a human being he is, Inspiration for others too.”

For the unversed, Samson was left out of India’s playing XI for the second ODI against New Zealand to make way for Deepak Hooda, who according to the team management, was also their sixth bowling option.

Samson played a decent knock of 36 (38) in the series opener at Auckland’s Eden Park but was once again dropped, keeping in mind that the team needs another spin bowling option to control the flow of runs in the middle overs.

The third and final match between the two sides is scheduled to take place at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Wednesday, November 30.
