Islamabad United faced Multan Sultans in match no. 24 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023 at Pindi Club Ground in Rawalpindi on Tuesday (March 7), and the game turned out to be a thrilling encounter, with Islamabad winning the contest by two wickets on the second last ball of the 20th over.

Asked to bat first, Multan started off strongly with opener Shan Masood scoring 75 runs off 50 balls, supported by Tim David, who scored 60 runs off just 27 deliveries. The team set a challenging target of 205/5 in their allotted 20 overs. For Islamabad, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Wasim Jr took two wickets each.

In response, Islamabad-based team put up a good fight, with Faheem Ashraf scoring 51 runs off 26 balls and captain Shadab contributing 44 runs. However, Multan’s Anwar Ali took three wickets, and Ihsanullah took two wickets, putting Islamabad in a tight spot.

In the end, Islamabad managed to chase down the target in the final over with two wickets in hand, winning the match by a narrow margin. Faheem was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his brilliant batting performance.

After the win, Shadab posted two pictures on his Instagram to laud his team and appreciate the exceptional knock of Faheem, where James Neesham took a hilarious dig at the Islamabad skipper and asked why he did shout at England star Ben Stokes after getting out.

“Why’d you shout at Ben Stokes when you got out?,” commented Neesham on Shadab’s post

In response, Shadab wrote: “@jimmyneesham because I was missing him.”
