From Rohit Sharma’s splendid captaincy to Prasidh Krishna’s tremendous bowling, the recently-concluded second ODI between India and West Indies had so many joyful moments for the Indian fans. But, there was another incident that caught the maximum eyeballs involving former skipper Virat Kohli.

The Delhi-lad exhibited high-class fielding during the latter stages of the Windies chase and grabbed a sensational catch to get rid of Odean Smith. The dismissal gave Team India a sense of relief because Smith was hitting the balls pretty well and slowly taking his side near the target.

It all happened during the 45th over of the West Indies’ innings bowled by off-spinner Washington Sundar. In a crunch situation where the game could go anywhere, Sundar held his nerves and delivered one of the finest overs.

Sundar only conceded three runs until the last ball of the over, which Smith faced. The Windies all-rounder decided to go for the full monty and smacked the ball in the deep mid-wicket. It was a mistimed shot as the white leather went miles above in the air, making it quite challenging for fielders to grab it under the lights.

However, Kohli used all his experience to come underneath the ball quite nicely and took the catch to end Smith’s knock (24 off 20). Kohli did bump his head on the ground while falling behind, but he managed to hold on.

Here is the video:

The hosts defended a low score of 237/9 by packing West Indies for just 193. With the victory, India also sealed the series with one game still to go.

“Obviously, winning the series is a good feeling. There were some challenges. The partnership between Rahul and Surya had a lot of maturity. We got to a respectable total in the end. We knew we could fight it out. The entire unit came out and bowled superbly,” said Rohit after the match.
