Shahbaz Ahmed, the 27-year-old batting all-rounder, has received his maiden call-up in Team India, replacing Washington Sundar for the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe.

Sundar was ruled out of the upcoming Zimbabwe tour after injuring his shoulder while playing a Royal London Cup game for Lancashire in England.

The left-handed all-rounder Shahbaz has been a regular member of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) squad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the last two editions. He has also played 26 List A matches, scoring 662 runs at an average of 47.28 and bagging 24 wickets at an economy rate of 4.43.

India and Zimbabwe are scheduled to play three ODIs starting in Harare on Thursday (August 18).

The tourists will enter the series after a thumping victory over West Indies in both the T20I and ODI formats in late July and earlier this month.

India’s revised squad:

KL Rahul (captain), Shikhar Dhawan (vice-captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Deepak Hooda, Rahul Tripathi, Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Sanju Samson (wicket-keeper), Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Mohd Siraj, Deepak Chahar, Shahbaz Ahmed.
