The tournament is held approximately every four years, with each edition spanning several weeks and culminating in a final match to determine the champion.
The time has come again for the upcoming edition multi-team event which is set to begin from October 5 in India. Over the years, many seasons of the World Cup has taken place where different teams emerged victorious.
The first ODI World Cup was held in 1975 in England, and it has since become one of the marquee events in international cricket. The tournament generally consists of a round-robin group stage, followed by knockout rounds, including quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a final. West Indies were the winners of the inaugural edition while England became the champions of the last season of ODI World Cup in 2019. India, who are hosting the ODI World Cup 2023, won the trophy back in 1983 as well in 2011.
