Rashid Khan, the ace leg-spinner of Gujarat Titans (GT), has a remarkable ability to take wickets whenever the team requires, and he once again demonstrated his prowess on Friday night during the 57th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 against Mumbai Indians (MI).

Rashid got rid of the dangerous MI opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan in the same over, showcasing his magical talent in front of a packed house at the Wankhede Stadium.

Mumbai’s opening pair had a fantastic start to their innings, adding 61 runs in the first six overs. However, Rashid had other plans, as after conceding only seven runs in his first over, he swiftly dismissed Rohit on the first ball of his second over (7th over of MI innings). The Afghanistan superstar just didn’t stop there as he provided another dismissal in the form of Ishan on the penultimate ball effectively curbing the momentum of the Mumbai Indians’ innings.

Rashid delivered a leg-break that straightened with the angle, luring Rohit into a defensive shot that resulted in an edge. Fortunately for the touring party, Rahul Tewatia was well-placed at slip and took an impressive catch, quickly moving to his left. The star opener was dismissed for 29 runs off just 18 balls, including three boundaries and two sixes.

Rashid exuded confidence as he bowled a full delivery to Ishan, who attempted a sweep but was caught plumb in front of the middle stump as the ball struck his back-thigh. The explosive left-handed batter could not escape the leg-before-wicket, and was removed for 31 runs off 20 balls, with four boundaries and a six.

Speaking about the innings, MI posted a humungous 218/5 in 20 overs, thanks to Suryakumar Yadav, who smashed a tremendous century. Surya scored unbeaten 103 from 49 balls, including 11 fours and 6 sixes.
