Gautam Gambhir, a former India opener and currently the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), made headlines for an on-field altercation with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star Virat Kohli, which drew criticism from fans and experts.

Gambhir is now again in the news but this time for all the good reasons. Recently, former India spinner Rahul Sharma expressed his gratitude towards Gambhir for helping him during the former’s mother-in-law’s brain haemorrhage surgery last month.

Rahul took to Twitter and shared several pictures featuring his wife and mother-in-law, accompanied by a message that stated: “Last month was very difficult. My mother-in-law had brain haemorrhage. She was in critical condition. Thank you Gautam Gambhir paji & (his PA Gaurav Arora) who helped me in such difficult time, & he provided the best neurologist and hospital in a short time. Surgery has been done successfully.”

Notably, Rahul, who announced his retirement from all formats of cricket in August 2022, represented India in four ODIs and two T20Is during 2011-2012. He played domestic cricket for Punjab and featured for various Indian Premier League (IPL) teams, including Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Pune Warriors India, and Deccan Chargers. Overall, in 44 IPL matches, Rahul took 40 wickets with the best figures of 3/13.

The gesture of Gambhir impressed one and all on Twitter as netizens expressed their thoughts, hailing the ex-India cricketer for his wonderful efforts to help the needy.
