Cricket Australia (CA) have officially revealed their men’s squad for the upcoming tour of India, which will kickstart with a much-anticipated One Day International (ODI) series. The announcement has sent ripples of excitement through the cricketing world as several senior players make a triumphant return to the Australian lineup.
Senior stars make a comeback
The Australian ODI squad boasts the return of some of its most experienced and accomplished players, who were conspicuously absent during the recent series in South Africa due to injuries. Leading the charge will be the regular captain, Pat Cummins, whose dynamic leadership both on and off the field is expected to guide the team to success.
Steve Smith, the batting maestro, and Glenn Maxwell, the explosive all-rounder, are also set to don the national colors once again. Smith’s prolific run-scoring ability and Maxwell’s knack for providing crucial breakthroughs with his off-spin make them invaluable assets to the team.
Additionally, the team will welcome back the veteran pacer Mitchell Starc. Known for his deadly pace and ability to swing the ball both ways, Starc is expected to spearhead the Australian bowling attack during the India tour.

Travis Head out due to fractured hand
The 18-man squad, led by Cummins, is brimming with talent and experience. However, there’s a hint of concern over the fitness of some players, especially Travis Head. The promising batsman fractured his left hand during the fourth ODI against the Proteas and has had to return home prematurely. This unfortunate injury has put his place in the 15-man World Cup squad in jeopardy.
With Head’s departure, all eyes are on Marnus Labuschagne. The talented batter, often hailed as the future of Australian cricket, is considered the potential candidate to replace Head in the squad, should it come to that. His recent form and ability to adapt to different formats of the game make him a compelling choice.
Apart from Labuschagne, two more exciting talents have found a place in the ODI squad for the India tour. Tanveer Sanga and Nathan Ellis, like Labuschagne, are not part of the World Cup squad but have been picked for the three ODIs.
