The cricketing world witnessed a mix of excitement and disappointment as the Boxing Day Test between South Africa and India commenced on December 26 in Centurion. While the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to cricketing action added to the thrill, the unexpected absence of India’s star all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, cast a shadow over the promising clash.
The surprising news of Ravindra Jadeja’s exclusion

Here’s why Jadeja is not playing Boxing Day Test against South Africa
As the fans wondered about the possible reason behind Jadeja’s omission, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued an official statement to inform what rendered the star all-rounder unavailable for selection.
In their officially issued update, BCCI revealed that Jadeja had complained of back spasms ahead of the match and was rested as a precautionary measure by the management.

“We are pretty confident with our squad and the make-up of our squad. We are playing with four seamers and a spinner. Ashwin is playing in place of Jadeja. Jaddu had a bit of a back spasm, so Ashwin comes in and he is a quality spinner to have. Prasidh is making his debut, along with the other pacers Shardul, Siraj and Bumrah,” said Rohit.
