The 50th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is currently taking place between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Arun Jaitley Stadium. It is the second occasion when both teams are taking on each other in the ongoing 16tth season of the cash-rich league.
Notably, the Arun Jaitley Stadium is Virat Kohli’s home ground too as he began his domestic career at this venue. Playing an IPL game at his home for the first time in a year, Kohli won the hearts of the fans with a gesture for his childhood coach.
Ahead of the start of the game, Kohli met his childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma‘s and the cricketer touched his coach’s feet. The gesture from the Indian superstar caught everyone’s attention and the video of the same has been doing rounds on social media.

For the unversed, a pavilion at the Arun Jaitely Stadium is named after Kohli. Before the start of the game, Rajkumar also recalled an incident, revealing that Kohli was adamant about practising with players from senior age groups during his early days.
“When he first came, I had put him in the U-11s. He never used to get out to his juniors. He used to ask me ‘Sir, I wan’t to play with the elders’. I told him ‘you’re very young so you have to play with the kids from your age group. But he told me that they can’t get me out and I can play them,” Rajukumar told RCB.
On his return to Delhi, Kohli shined with the bat as he smashed yet another half-century of this season, scoring 55 off 46 deliveries, including five boundaries. Apart from Kohli, Faf du Plessis (45 off 32) and Mahipal Lomror (54 off 29) chipped in with valuable contributions as RCB posted 181/4 in their allotted 20 overs.
