Chasing a challenging target of 323 runs for victory, the Netherlands faced an uphill battle. Despite Colin Ackermann‘s valiant 69-run effort, the Dutch team struggled to maintain the required run rate. They were eventually bowled out for 223 in 46.3 overs, falling short by 99 runs.

New Zealand’s bowlers, led by Santner, made life difficult for the Dutch batsmen. Santner took a sensational five-wicket haul and became the first-ever Kiwi bowler to take a 5-fer for New Zealand in the World Cup. Matt Henry also made a notable contribution with three wickets, while Trent Boult and Ravindra chipped in with crucial breakthroughs.
