Star Australian cricketer David Warner, known for his cricketing prowess and his love for Indian culture, brought a dose of entertainment to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 warm-up match between Australia and Pakistan at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Notably, Warner’s admiration for Indian movies and music is no secret. His social media is adorned with videos of him dancing to Indian songs, and his reels imitating scenes from the blockbuster movie ‘Pushpa’ starring superstar Allu Arjun, have taken the internet by storm.

During the warm-up match in Hyderabad, Warner once again paid homage to ‘Pushpa,’ this time on the cricket field. During the game Warner took a great catch to dismiss Abdullah Shafique. In celebration of taking the catch, the dashing opening Aussie batter imitated Allu’s famous pose of brushing the hand to his chin from the movie Pushpa.

Maxwell and Green steer Australia to 357

Speaking about the match, the cricketing action began with Warner setting the stage on fire with an explosive innings. He amassed an impressive 48 runs, providing Australia with a blistering start. However, despite Warner’s fiery start, Australia faced some turbulence, losing a couple of quick wickets.

Amidst the wickets falling around him, Glenn Maxwell rose to the occasion, smashing 77 runs from 71 balls. His partnership with Cameron Green, who contributed with a half-century, proved pivotal. Josh Inglish‘s quick 48 runs in the final 10 overs propelled Australia to a formidable total of 351/7.

Pakistan’s gutsy effort falls short by 14 runs

Facing a daunting run chase, Pakistan’s innings got off to a shaky start, losing four early wickets. Nevertheless, Ifthikar Ahmed and skipper Babar Azam showed their mettle, with scores of 83 and 90 runs, respectively. Mohammad Nawaz added a half-century to the tally. However, despite their valiant efforts, Pakistan fell short by 14 runs, bowled out for 337.
