Fourteen years after the brutal 26/11 attack in Mumbai, India mourns the loss of the victims of terror. Former and current cricketers today paid their tributes to those who lost their lives and remembered the sacrifices made by some to save lives.

Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar led the tributes to martyrs of the terror attack.

“26/11 – We remember the innocent lives lost. We remember the courage shown by our forces.

Prayers and thoughts with families of everyone who has been impacted,” Tendulkar said in his tweet.

Veteran all-rounder Yuvraj Singh paid his respect to the victims of the 26/11 attacks.

“Paying my respects to all those who were impacted by the 26/11 attacks.. it was a day that showcased the selflessness, courage and unity of our beloved nation,” tweeted Yuvi.

26/11 is marked as a dark day in India’s history as a series of terrorist attacks hit Mumbai in November 2008. Saturday marks 14 years to the day 12 coordinated shootings and bombings took place in iconic locations across the city, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Oberoi Trident and Taj Palace and Tower among others.

Lamenting the cowardly act, Virender Sehwag took to Twitter and remembered the brave souls like Shaheed Tukaram Omble who gave their lives and shed their blood in order to save their fellow citizens.

“14 years since the sad day. He is one of the greatest son of our soil- Shaheed Tukaram Omble. The courage, the presence of mind and the selflessness demonstrated by him on that day – no words, no awards can do justice. Garv hai bahut aise mahaan insaan par,” wrote Sehwag.
