With his remarkable figures of 5-51, fast bowler Mohammed Shami emerged as the star performer with the ball, securing his second ODI five-wicket haul. His exceptional bowling display wreaked havoc on the Australian batting lineup. David Warner (52), Steve Smith (41), and Josh Inglis (45) contributed with valuable runs to guide their team to a respectable total of 276.
India batters kicked off the chase in style, thanks to the dynamic opening pair of Ruturaj Gaikwad (71) and Shubman Gill (74). The duo fearlessly took on the Australian bowling attack, fashioning a commanding partnership of 142 runs for the initial wicket.
Following the splendid opening stand, skipper KL Rahul (58 not out) and the explosive batter Suryakumar Yadav (50) assumed responsibility for steering India’s innings, ultimately guiding their side to victory in 48.4 overs.

Shubman Gill breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s record
Shubman has so far played 34 ODI matches while serving as an opener in 30 games for the Men in Blue. Notably, the 24-year-old’s knock against Australia marked his 14th fifty-plus score in ODIs, out of which 13 of those fifty-plus scores came from his willow as an opener, adding his name to an elite list of records surpassing the Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, who notched up 12 fifty-plus scores in his first 30 ODIs as an opener.
Behind them stand Indian batters Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, who garnered ten fifty-plus knocks in their first 30 ODIs, rendering their services as an opener.
Shubman boasts remarkable ODI stats, scoring 1814 runs in 34 ODIs with a stunning average of 64.75. The right-hander has five tons and nine half-centuries to his name.
