Mohammad Kaif names Rohit Sharma’s go-to man in Asia Cup and ODI World Cup 2023

As the anticipation builds for the forthcoming Asia Cup 2023, the cricketing world eagerly awaits the highly competitive tournament set to kick off on August 30 in Sri Lanka. Team India will again be favourites, considering their formidable track record in the competition, having clinched the title on seven occasions in the past.

Following the culmination of the Asia Cup, India will host the much-awaited 2023 ODI World Cup. Their campaign will kick off against Australia on October 5 in Chennai, preceded by warm-up encounters against England and the Netherlands.

The Indian team’s preparations have received a substantial boost with the return of their premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, who recently led the side in a 3-match T20I series against Ireland, securing a 2-0 series win, with the final match abandoned due to rain.

Mohammad Kaif labels Kuldeep Yadav as Rohit Sharma’s go-to man

While Bumrah’s role is pivotal, former India batsman Mohammad Kaif believes that spinner Kuldeep Yadav will hold the key for captain Rohit Sharma during both the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup. In a tweet that has since been deleted, Kaif expressed his eagerness to witness Kuldeep’s performances in the middle overs and hailed him as a wicket-taking asset.

Kaif’s tweet read, “Kuldeep Yadav will be Rohit’s go-to man. One of the things I’m excited about at this Asia Cup and World Cup is to watch in-form Kuldeep Yadav in the middle overs. A wicket-taker with flight and turn against batsmen looking for runs is always a great contest.”

Notably, Kuldeep’s resurgence has been remarkable. The left-arm chinaman spinner has displayed exceptional form in the lead-up to the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup, amassing 7 wickets in the recent 3-match ODI series against West Indies, playing a pivotal role in India’s 2-1 series triumph.
