When Team India checked into their Guwahati hotel for their warm-up match against defending champions England on Saturday (September 30), a surprising mix-up occurred. The hotel inadvertently sent an erroneous check-in email to a different individual named Hardik Pandya rather than the Indian all-rounder currently part of the Men in Blue squad for the 2023 World Cup.
This misdirected email was dispatched on September 28, two days before the Indian cricket team arrived in Guwahati. It is important to note that Pandya serves as the vice-captain for the Indian team in the upcoming tournament.
Notably, Pandya opted to sit out of the recently-concluded three-match series against Australia to maintain his readiness for the prestigious ICC event.
Adding an amusing twist to the situation, it was revealed that the unintended recipient of the hotel’s email was none other than the Senior Vice President of the prominent ed-tech company, Unacademy.

Hardik Pandya shared a screenshot of the email on his social media platform to draw attention to the mix-up.
“I have no plans to fly to Guwahati tomorrow. Turns out it’s a room booked for @hardikpandya7 for the #ICCWorldCup warm-up match in Guwahati,” he wrote, tagging the cricketer in his post shared on Twitter.
So I get a ‘Online check-in’ email from Radisson Blu Hotel, Guwahati.
Check-in? Tomorrow (28-09-2023).
I have no plans to fly to Guwahati tomorrow.
Turns out it’s a room booked for @hardikpandya7 for the #ICCWorldCup warm-up match in Guwahati.

Nevertheless, the hotel promptly responded to the tweet and apologised for any inconvenience caused. Furthermore, they appreciated Hardik for bringing this oversight to their attention.
Thank you for pointing out this innocent mix-up @hvpandya. We would love to host you should you be in the area anytime soon, and apologies for the confusion our email might have caused.
