Rohit Sharma‘s charismatic leadership has undeniably been the driving force behind India‘s outstanding campaign in the ODI World Cup 2023. The adept right-handed batter has not only showcased his prowess with the willow by consistently providing his team with formidable starts but has also demonstrated a keen strategic acumen when navigating challenging situations. The southpaw’s ability to lead from the front and make astute decisions under pressure has earned him widespread acclaim within the cricket fraternity.

As the Men in Blue stand just one step away from their World Cup triumph, former Indian cricketer Mohinder Amarnath, who played a pivotal role in India’s first ODI World Cup triumph back in 1983, has opined on Rohit’s beguiling stewardship in the ongoing cricketing carnival.

Amarnath’s opinion on Rohit’s leadership

Amarnath praised Rohit’s captaincy, emphasizing the importance of leading from the front, which he believes the batting ace does exceptionally well. He commended the Nagpur-born cricketer for setting the right example for the team, noting that when the captain performs effectively, the entire team follows suit.

“You have to lead from the front and I think, that’s what good or great captains do. He [Rohit] has been doing it in a very right manner. When a skipper starts, the entire team looks up to him because he is showing them the path. I think he is doing it wonderfully. He is helping himself and the team to win games convincingly. His captaincy has been fantastic and it’s all about winning,” Amarnath said, as quoted by News18.

Amarnath on India’s World Cup glory

Amarnath further expressed confidence in the professionalism and experience of the Indian cricket team, stating that there is no need for explicit instructions. The Patiala-born cricketer believes that the players, well-versed in handling successes and setbacks, know their responsibilities and expects the team to perform to the best of their abilities, ensuring India’s success in the World Cup 2023.

“I don’t think they need to be told anything because they are professionals and have been around for quite a long time now. They have been through all ups and downs, so I’m sure they know what they are supposed to do and they’ll play to the best of their abilities and make sure that India win again,” the 73-year-old added.
