India’s dynamic wicketkeeper-batter, Rishabh Pant, continues to make remarkable strides in his recovery journey following a harrowing car accident in December of the previous year. The accident occurred as Pant was en route from Delhi to his hometown in Roorkee, resulting in severe injuries and burns. After receiving initial medical attention in Dehradun, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took the decisive step of airlifting him to Mumbai for more extensive treatment, including a vital knee surgery to address ligament damage and other associated injuries.
Pant, a crucial asset for the Indian cricket team, has been since absent from international cricket for over nine months. During this period, he has been diligently working on his rehabilitation at the esteemed National Cricket Academy (NCA) located in Bengaluru. Notably, the 25-year-old recently exhibited positive signs of regaining fitness by participating in a club match hosted in Bengaluru as part of the JSW Vijay Nagar event. Amidst Pant’s commendable progress, it was revealed by India’s skipper, Rohit Sharma, during the Asia Cup 2023 team selection press conference, that Pant is still some distance away from achieving full fitness.
