In the high-voltage encounter at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, Australia registered a crushing five-wicket defeat over India in the third T20I of five-match series on Tuesday. India vs Australia 3rd T20I: An Encounter to remember

Invited to bat first, the Men in Blue showcased a formidable performance, posting an imposing total of 222 in their allotted 20 overs. The standout performance came from opener Ruturaj Gaikawad, whose breathtaking century of 123 runs in just 57 balls set a formidable foundation for India.

Chasing the daunting target, the Australian team faced an early collapse. However, what then unleashed was a storming batting display from Maxwell, who brutally dealt with the Indian bowlers to notch up his fourth T20I ton in just 47 balls and played the anchor role in leading his side to a much-needed victory against the hosts.

In the aftermath of the intense cricketing battle, Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav reflected on his team’s defeat, shedding light on the possible reasons behind the outcome. The match, characterized by stellar individual performances, left fans on the edge of their seats, witnessing a captivating contest between two cricketing powerhouses.

Suryakumar Yadav on Glenn Maxwell and Indian bowling

Suryakumar shared insights into the team’s strategy, emphasizing the importance of dismissing Maxwell quickly. He acknowledged that it becomes crucial to assist the bowlers when defending a total of 200-210 with significant dew. Despite Australia losing wickets early in their innings, the Indian batter recognized that with wickets in hand, especially for a target of 223, the Yellow Team remained competitive throughout the game.

“Just to get Maxi (Maxwell) out quickly. I think that was the plan, but yeah, I mean, when you’re defending 200-210 with so much dew I think you got to give something to the bowlers. They (Australia) lost wickets early on, so they couldn’t reach the end, but with the wickets in hand for them and then for 220, I think they were always in the game,” SKY said in the post-match ceremony.

Suryakumar further expressed admiration for Ruturaj’s batting performance, describing it as fantastic. He underscored the 26-year-old’s ability to take the innings deep, emphasizing that he has always considered Ruturaj a special player.

“Fantastic. I mean, the way he (Ruturaj) batted after I got out, he took the inning deep. I’ve always said during franchise cricket as well, that he is a special player. And the way he batted, he showed it, but yeah, at the end. Very proud of my boys,” the 33-year-old added.
