On Tuesday, match 26 of the ongoing Uttar Pradesh T20 League (UPT20) was played between Lucknow Falcons and Kashi Rudras at Green Park, Kanpur. Rudras heavily crushed the Falcons and registered a thumping win from nine wickets.

Winning the toss, Rudras invited the Falcons to bat first as the match was restricted to 16 overs per side due to rain. No other batter apart from Shaurya Singh (52), who got dismissed by a stunning catch by Mohammad Sharim, sparked any charm for the side, as pacer Atal Bihari Rai (6/27) starred with the ball for Rudras. The Lucknow-based team boasted a total of 142 runs on the board.

The incident occurred during the second ball of the 13th over when Shaurya tried to smash the ball over the deep backward point boundary. Sharim used his presence of mind to take a phenomenal catch, sending the left-hander back to the pavilion.

Kashi Rudras register whopping victory

In pursuit of a target of 142 runs, Rudras got off to an impressive start as opener Karan Sharma showcased his prowess with a remarkable 81-run innings, ably supported by Aranav Baliyan, who contributed 12 runs in their solid 65-run partnership for the initial wicket. The team’s pursuit was further bolstered by Shivam Bansal, who played a crucial innings, amassing 33 runs. Their combined efforts led Kashi Rudras to a resounding nine-wicket victory over their rivals, underlining their dominance in the match and securing a convincing win. The Player of the Match accolade was bestowed upon pacer Atal Bihari Rai for his exceptional bowling performance. Rai displayed remarkable skill and precision as he dismantled the batting order of the Falcons.
