Trinbago Knight Riders’ stunning performance in Qualifier 1
Trinbago secured their spot in Qualifier 1 by finishing second in the group stage points table with six wins out of ten matches, trailing only Guyana.
In the highly crucial clash against Guyana, the Kieron Pollard-led side chose to field first after winning the toss. Guyana made a strong start to their innings, powered by Saim Ayub‘s impressive 49 runs. However, Trinbago’s consistent wicket-taking put pressure on Guyana, resulting in a final innings total of 166 runs with seven wickets down.
Coming to the chase, Trinbago’s opener Chadwick Walton made a blistering start but lost his partner, Mark Deyal, early in the fifth over. Nicholas Pooran joined Walton, and built 51-run partnership with him. Pooran contributed 33 runs before being dismissed. Captain Pollard then played a pivotal role, scoring 23 runs off 15 balls with the help of two fours and a six, guiding his team to a successful chase.
