Trinbago Knight Riders advanced into the final of the ongoing Caribbean Premier League 2023 after registering a remarkable seven-wicket victory over the Guyana Amazon Warriors in Qualifier 1 on Thursday, September 21.

Following this impressive win, members of the Trinbago team participated in a glamorous celebration event. The party’s highlight was the star all-rounder Andre Russell, who took the spotlight as he enthusiastically danced to the rhythm of the song ‘Ramaiya Vastavaiya,’ a track from Indian actor Sharukh Khan‘s recent blockbuster movie ‘Jawan.’

Kolkata Knight Riders shared a video of Russell’s spectacular dance moves on their official Twitter handle and captioned it as, “Acing the #NotRamaiyaVastavaiya challenge in classic Dre Russ style!”

Shahrukh Khan’s reaction

Shahrukh, who is the co-owner of the Trinbago Knight Riders, adored Russell’s dance moves. The Bollywood star re-shared KKR’s clip on his official Twitter account and sent his best wishes to the his franchise for the upcoming CPL final.

“Now win the Cup on Sunday boys….and I will teach you all Zinda Banda Ho. Well played and big hug to all the players @TKRiders love you all,” tweeted Shahrukh.

Trinbago Knight Riders’ stunning performance in Qualifier 1

Trinbago secured their spot in Qualifier 1 by finishing second in the group stage points table with six wins out of ten matches, trailing only Guyana.

In the highly crucial clash against Guyana, the Kieron Pollard-led side chose to field first after winning the toss. Guyana made a strong start to their innings, powered by Saim Ayub‘s impressive 49 runs. However, Trinbago’s consistent wicket-taking put pressure on Guyana, resulting in a final innings total of 166 runs with seven wickets down.

Coming to the chase, Trinbago’s opener Chadwick Walton made a blistering start but lost his partner, Mark Deyal, early in the fifth over. Nicholas Pooran joined Walton, and built 51-run partnership with him. Pooran contributed 33 runs before being dismissed. Captain Pollard then played a pivotal role, scoring 23 runs off 15 balls with the help of two fours and a six, guiding his team to a successful chase.
