The second ODI between India and the West Indies at Port of Spain saw an exciting contest where the visitors managed to register a win by two wickets. The victory also ensured India sealed the series with one game left to be played on Wednesday, July 27.

For the Men in Blue, middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer, who is also the vice-captain in this series, has impressed everyone with his consistent batting performance, playing brilliant knocks in the first two ODIs.

Iyer is currently the leading run-scorer for India in the three-match series with 117 runs. The right-handed batter, after playing a knock of 54 runs in the opening match, continued his fine form and scored 63 runs off 71 balls in the second ODI. He added a 99-run partnership with Sanju Samson (54) to bail his team out of trouble after early blows.

After the match, Iyer spoke about his knock in the post-match press conference, but faced a problem while expressing his words. He started off by saying, “Yes, obviously, Whatever hard work there is, is off the field. These (knocks) are only a replica of it.”

However, the Mumbaikar soon realised that ‘replica’ was not the right word, and he changed his statement to: “Whatever you see here on the field is a result of what you do off the field.”
